About this week’s podcast:

In Week 9/Episode 9 of The Intermittent Fasting Journal, Donna Reish describes her week before Christmas fasting journey, including averaging twenty hours of fasting per day (in spite of two birthday parties and three Christmas gatherings—IF CAN be a lifestyle!), adding some low carb days (but not high fat!) to balance out her carby holiday celebrations, staying strong during her celebrations, and more. She had no weight gain during all of these festivities–and is feeling great! More than ever, she is convinced that Daily IF can be done for life–and her celebratory foods without guilt really add to this belief. Donna teaches Listener Lessons about what a Daily IF week might look like, how to shorten and lengthen fasting windows (rather than quitting altogether), and changing food associations. She ends the non-sponsored portion with a great lesson on applying Mel Robbins’ book, The Five Second Rule, to Daily IF–with clapping, tapping, chanting, and phrasing that can make you successful at Daily IF!

Week 9 December 18

A. What I’ve Been Doing

1. 20 hours average

2. Adding some low carb days

3. Listening and reading everything I can get my hands on

4. Outlining IF Journal Book

5. Staying strong–by this time usually “off” or “off more than on” since Christmas is close

6. Shortening eating windows as needed

B. My Results

1. No weight loss (three Christmas gatherings)—8 pounds in 9 weeks

2. No measurable gain!

3. Enjoying holiday foods–IF is better than ever during holiday season!

C. What I’m Learning–Listener Lessons!

1. What IF looks like for me

a. Monday–fast Sunday 6:00 pm until Monday 6:00 pm (24 hours)–one -year-old granddaughter’s birthday (spread out over 2 hours)–yum cupcakes!

b. Tuesday–fast Monday 8:00 until Tuesday 5:00 (21 hours)–eat Mexican restaurant and peanut M and M’s

c. Wednesday–fast Tuesday 7:00 until Wednesday at 4:00 (21 hours)–open with cheese and crackers; eat homemade hamburger, half bun, air fried FF, salad, & cupcake)

d. Thursday–fast Wednesday 8:00 pm until Thursday 4:00 pm (20 hours)– open with chips and queso; eat salad, leftover ravioli, breadstick, cupcake

e. Friday–fast Thursday 5:00 pm until Friday 2:00 birthday lunch (21 hours)—eat salad, meatloaf, mashed potatoes (no roll because of Christmas gathering/long eating window today…)–at two meal today–a birthday lunch and a Christmas dinner at my step-mom’s (I only eat 2 meals about once or twice a month now–with longer eating window for special occasions.)

2. Preparing for Holidays

3. The Importance of Changing Your Food Associations

4) 5 Second Rule

a. Mel Robbins

b. Counting aloud back from 5

c. Hijacking the brain before it has time to decide something for you (like eating out of your window or not exercising or not getting up on time!)

D. Plexus

1. TriPlex–

2. Ease capsules

a. Over 76 million Americans struggle with discomfort each day … back problems, muscle tension, joint soreness, head pains, the list goes on!

b. But what makes the Plexus Ease supplement different from those over the counter (or even prescription) medications?  Our quality, natural ingredients, of course, which Plexus has developed into a proprietary ingredient blend that helps you live happier, healthier, and discomfort-free!

c. Are you familiar with turmeric?  This pungent spice is in Plexus Ease and is packed with anti inflammatories and antioxidants. Turmeric has been proven to fight off destructive free radicals, rejuvenate cells, cleanse the #liver, protect the heart , boost moods  and support healthy brain functioning.

d. BUT normally, turmeric taken in pill form is ineffective because you need #FAT with it. Our Ease has a superior one in the form of the Green Lipped Mussel, an Omega3 fatty acid, which is up to 100 times more effective in reducing inflammation than a regular Omega 3 supplement!

e. Another amazing ingredient: Serapetease– helps reduce inflammation and pain
